We have had a great couple of weeks back at school after the Summer holidays and we are settling into our new classroom fantastically. Miss Main is our teacher this year and we are so lucky to have Miss Chiassaro and Miss Fennell helping us every day. There are also some specialist teachers that work with us each week – Miss Akintonkin teaches us Music, Mr Kearney teaches us Computing and Mr Longstaff teaches us PE. We love our new Classroom, which is filled with many different areas including: construction, sand and water, working walls, bright displays and a reading corner complete with fairy lights!
Our learning so far has been so impressive! We are working really hard on using capital letters, full stops and finger spaces in our writing and have been independently choosing classroom resources to help us in Maths. Our Topic this term is ‘One Giant Leap’, in which we are learning about lots of different forms of transport. We cover lots of different subjects in Topic, including Art, Geography, History and Design and Technology, so it is always a very exciting day of the week!
We have PE on a Wednesday and a Friday this year, so please make sure labelled PE kits are brought in on Wednesday morning. We also on working on being super readers in Year 1! Children will be read with in school, but it is also so important to complete reading at home, so please do sign and comment in the Reading Records.
We can’t wait for our first Year 1 trip to the Postal Museum on Monday 15th October and we look forward to sharing lots of pictures with you on our class page!
