Welcome to 3R!
In Year 3R Miss Roe is our teacher and we are lucky to have two Learning Support Assistants that work in our classroom: Mrs Holloway and Mrs Smith. We are also very lucky to have three Specialist Teachers who will be coming into our classroom to teach Spanish on a Monday, Computing on a Thursday and one of our PE sessions on a Thursday.
Our classroom is full of resources which we use to learn. We have working displays where we can see our work displayed. We also use these displays to extend our knowledge. We have an exciting superhero book corner, where we can read and wear superhero costumes in the reading tent.
Our classes P.E days are on Wednesday and Thursday. This will take place either in the top hall or outside in the playground so please remember your P.E kit on these days and also your P.E shoes. It is a good idea to have your P.E kit in school throughout the week in case we need it.
Our first topic in Year 3R is “My New School Year” and as the children settle into Year 3 we will be learning all about our rules and expectations in Year 3. This will be followed by a topic on ‘Visit UK’ where we will be learning all about Counties and Cities.
Our new RE topic is ‘In the Beginning’; where we will become familiar with the second story of Creation; Genesis 2:4b-25. We will also identify the beliefs about God which come from this text.
Our assembly this term is on Monday 8th October and it will be a RE assembly ‘Beginning with God’. We hope you can join us!
In Year 3 we have daily reading sessions, where your child will read in guided reading groups. It is very important that your child brings in their reading book every day. It is also important that your child reads at home, whether this is with an adult or independently. It is expected that your child reads for a minimum of 10-15 minutes a night and for an adult to sign their reading record.
In Year 3R it is very important to remember that we are all here to learn and show
respect towards each other. We expect everyone in Year 3R to treat others as they would like to be treated themselves.
We are looking forward to an exciting year ahead!
