Who was Bob Marley?

Bob Marley is a very famous songwriter, singer and musician from Jamaica.

 

Reggae

He made the music genre reggae popular with people who didn't know it before and helped people to understand more about life in his poor area in Jamaica in that time.

 

Bob Marley's Band

Bob Marley's band was known as Bob Marley and the Wailers but he also made music as a solo artist. Songs like 'three little birds' were very popular and made people happy. 

 

When was he born?

Bob Marley was born in a small village in Jamaica in 1945. 

 

Who was his family?

Bob married Rita Anderson and they had lots of children!

 

Why is he important?

As well as being a very talented musician, Bob was awarded a very special peace medal from the United Nations in 1978 for his brave work trying to bring peace and justice for people in his homeland of Jamaica.
