Matisse's Art in a sentence: 

Bright colours and simple shapes.

 

Matisse was a French artist that created lots of art in different ways including painting and sculpture. As he got older, Matisse started making collages like the one you can see  above. We focus on this area of his Art work in our Topic lessons. Let's find out how he did it! 

 

Matisse used scissors to cut out brightly coloured paper to make shapes, leaves, animals, flowers and dancers. Then he arranged them in a collage.
