Hokusai's art in a sentence:
'The Great Wave off Kanagawa'
Instead of a normal sentence, I have used Hokusai's most famous piece of work to describe him. The picture above, 'the Great wave off Kanagawa', is a very, very famous print. This print is why most people know Hokusai but did you know that he did not just do this print? In fact, it came from a series of prints that he created called 'Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji' which showed Japan's famous mountain from different places and in different ways.
Fun facts about Hokusai:
He changed his name lots of times during his career and moved house lots too (93 times) because he didn't like to clean so when his house got dirty, he moved!
He created over 30,000 pieces of art in his life.
Another famous artist, Monet, collected 23 of his prints.
