Islington 11 by 11 Cultural Experiences-KS2 Big Sing!
Today we participated in the Big Sing at Union Chapel in Islington. With other schools, we joined in some vocal warm ups, different songs and watched some choirs perform, it was great fun! Thanks to all of our parent volunteers as well for your support!
Take a look at the activities we've been doing as part of our school's STEM week challenge!
We learnt what an algorithm was and used them to make simple designs with shapes, linking with our Maths topic.
After, we designed our own artificial intelligence inventions based on simple repeated algorithms.
We then followed an algorithm to make slime!
Today, we have spent the day dressed as royalty and very much enjoyed our celebrations for the Jubilee. We took part in different craft activities, had a picnic and an ice cream outside and even had some extra play time with some music to celebrate together!
Cultural Diversity Day-Diya Painting
To celebrate cultural diversity day, we will be participating in a diya painting workshop! Diya is part of the Hindu faith and symbolises purity, goodness, good luck and power. Diya lamps are symbolically lit during prayers, rituals and ceremonies and are common place in homes and places of worship. Keep a look out for the work we produce!
Little Angel Theatre Trip
This week we were able to go on another visit out, this time to the Little Angel Theatre to watch Pinocchio! Thank-you to all of our parent volunteers who came along with us.
Today, we were lucky enough to take part in a Morris dancing workshop, where we learnt a little bit about the history of the dance and tried some ourselves. See us in action below!
Samba Drumming Workshop
Today we had an exciting session learning about Samba music! We were split into groups and played a selection of different instruments before coming together and learning a whole class piece. We had great fun and learnt a lot too!
Well done Year 3 on your great Easter Assembly! You really worked hard and showcased your RE learning this term. We are all very proud of you!
World Book Day!
Today is World Book Day! Take a look at some of our fancy dress costumes below! The children also had the opportunity today to visit the hall and choose a free book to take home with them-very exciting!
Children's Mental Health Week
In light of this important week, our PHSE focus has centred around our wellbeing, dreams, hopes, aspirations and how we have grown and developed over the years! One of our activities was to add to our aspiration tree, where we completed butterflies with all of our achievements so far in our lives! We also drew out our support networks and talked about our hopes and dreams when we grow up!
You will also find complimentary resources and activities on your child's Seesaw if you wish to explore this further at home!
