PE

Our intent

We value the importance of Physical Education at Sacred Heart and ensure our lessons develop the children’s knowledge, skills and understanding, so that they can perform with increasing confidence and competence in a range of physical activities. We will ensure pupils have opportunities to compete in a wide range of sporting activities to contribute towards character building and help to embed core values such as respect and fairness. We aim to improve health and well-being, promote active participation and teamwork to enable each child to fulfil their full potential.

Planning

We subscribe to ‘PE Hub’ which is a high quality PE planning resource with fun and engaging lessons for the children to follow. PE Hub’s mission is to move PE forward by providing high quality, streamlined lesson planning that aims to develop children's skill development, learn cooperation and self-reflection, and develop a lifelong love of physical activity and sport- a mission that Sacred Heart also shares.

External Coaches

Children at Sacred Heart take part in a wide range of sports and we work closely with the community to ensure that all year groups have the opportunity to experience a wide range of sports. We have coaches from Arsenal, Islington Tennis Centre and Non-Stop-Action. Every year group receives a half term of coaching from each specialist and Years 3, 4 and 5 attend intensive swimming lessons (over a 2 week period).
