Investigating the Moon

The children have been investigating the Moon.

The children have discovered that:

  • The Moon orbits the Earth and takes approximately 28 days to complete one rotation.
  • They understand how the Moon passes through different phases.
  • They appreciate that the Moon’s path may give rise to solar and lunar eclipses.
  • They have been introduced to the idea that the pull of gravity from the Moon and Sun causes tides on Earth.
  • They know that the Moon is a satellite of Earth.

The children shared their learning of the moon with the rest of the class. They wrote scripts and included all their learning. They were wonderful to watch and we still have more to come...
